Having been born in Chester I have lived in many parts of the
U.K., 30+ years in Newcastle upon Tyne and 25 years here
in Cumbria, also worked in Co. Durham, so have an extensive knowledge of the North of England.
Career wise: After a period of secretarial/admin work in London
I was commissioned in the Royal Air Force. As a Photographic Interpretor my eyes were injured and I was invaleded from the Service (no lasting problems!). Then studied Public ^ Social Adminstration at Oxford University (later also obtained a Law degree LL.B). A period of several types of care work: Child Care Officer, Family Casework, Adoption. setting up
Age Concern Co. Durham for reorganisation 1974 and then until 1985 Welfare Services Consultant Newcaslte University.
Since then very much involved in Tourism in Cumbria. Blue Badge Guide. see above.
I am married with 2 adult sons, both married, and a couple of
grandchildren.
Belong to all the usual organisaitons, i.e. National Trust,
Wildlife Trust, Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and
Archeaelogical Society, W.I. (Hands in lots of pies!!)
