About Me
Hello and Assalamu Alaykum! My name is Eric, your friend at the other end.
My six years in the Middle East has been a bit of a whirlwind and all started when I decided to lie to my boss so that I could go on a last-minute holiday through Morocco. And that is when it all changed. Just a few months after I returned, I sold everything in my Brooklyn apartment and was moving somewhere decidedly more exciting.
18 months of leading tours through the deserts of Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco turned into Arabic studies at the University of Damascus, which turned into NGO work for street children in Yemen's capital. From here, I melded my travel knowledge and passion for getting off the beaten track into Backpacker Concierge - a trustworthy and socially responsible travel consultancy catering to travelers in one of the world's more challenging regions.
Even though I am in the business of tourism, ultimately, I am here to help. I have a varied network of friends in every corner of the country, so, sure, Egypt can be a challenging place, but it doesn't need to be. Don't forget, ANYTHING is possible in Egypt!
