In a climbing career spanning some 30 years I have touched on and excelled at almost every facet of this exciting sport. Combined with a love of teaching this has enabled me to travel extensively sharing a love of the mountains and the outdoors as a British Mountain Guide. From a base in Wellington it is an easy drive to central North Island to go climbing or to enjoy some of the best mountain biking in the world - around Taupo and especially Rotorua. It is, equally, an easy hop over ‘The Sounds’ to South Island for any number of adventures when slightly more time is available.I am married with two sons and spends most of my spare time trying to find ways to go climbing, paddling or mountain biking with family or friends. As an independent traveler for so many years I enjoy mixing adventure education with my mainstream career as a management training consultant. One of my favourite roles each year is working with students from international schools such as Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore and introducing them to some of the many exciting adventure activities here in NZ whilst, at the same time, allowing them to experience the culture of this young spirited country. Staying on a Marae (Maori meeting house) and learning the protocols of traditional Maori customs is a marvelous foil for these young travelers especially when combined with the myriad adrenalin charged activities on offer all over this country. These cultural experiences are often missing for many travelers but the rewards are priceless. I can tell you about all the opportunities for an adventurous traveller here in New Zealand.
