About me
I was born in Rome but went to live in South America when I was four. I was twelve when I came back to Italy and it was a shock: I had no idea streets could be that narrow, buildings that old and dark! I was in a medieval city – very different from what I was used to. My parents were delighted by all the beautiful things that surrounded them but I thought the museums where boring, and medieval painters childish. My walking route to school every morning was Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, and Piazza Santa Croce. After a whole year of that, I was ready to learn. My school art teacher taught me to understand the Old Continent, its culture, and it’s concept of beauty. She came to class with a rack of slides and talked, and we hung from her lips like she was unveiling a universal secret. The best part was when she came with no slides which meant the class would be held outside with the real stuff directly in front of our eyes.
I lived in Florence for 6 years and the past 11 years in Rome. I am deeply in love with both these cities and the entire regions around them. Now I am an art historian myself and I’ve invested this time in studying the story of my city, in knowing truly its territory, in feeling it as my home and my heritage. The result is that I’m proud of my country and it pleases me to communicate this exciting feeling to anyone that is interested in it.
